The purpose of this Test is to measure the abilities required to enter Japan with a "Specified Skilled Worker" status of residence and perform tasks such as food preparation, customer service, and store management in Japan's restaurant industry.

  • Indonesian nationals must be 18 years old or older based on the Western calendar.
  • Those with Japanese nationality are not eligible to take the test.
Implementation format CBT(Computer Based Testing)
Question content 1. Academic Test
This will measure knowledge related to hygiene management, food and beverage preparation, and general customer service, as well as Japanese language skills necessary for work.
a) Hygiene management (10 questions asked in Japanese)
Main contents: Knowledge about general hygiene management, knowledge about HACCP, knowledge about food poisoning, etc.
b) Food and beverage preparation (10 questions in Japanese)
Main contents: Knowledge about cooking, knowledge about ingredients, knowledge about cooking equipment, etc.
c) General customer service (10 questions asked in Japanese)
Main contents: Knowledge about customer service, knowledge about food diversity, knowledge about handling complaints, etc.

2. Practical Test (judgment Test, planning Test)
We measure the technical level required for work through judgment Test that use diagrams, illustrations, etc. to judge the correct actions, etc. in a situation setting, and planning Test that use predetermined calculation formulas to plan the necessary work.
a) Hygiene management (5 questions, including 3 judgment Test and 2 planning Test questions in Japanese)

Notes

Eligibility

Even if you are able to pass Test, this does not guarantee that you will be granted the status of residence of "Specified Skilled Worker", and those who pass Test will not be able to apply for Certificate of eligibility or change their status of residence. Even if an application is submitted, it does not necessarily mean that Certificate of eligibility will be issued or permission to change the status of residence will be granted.

ID creation

  • It is prohibited for one person to obtain multiple Prometric IDs.
  • Please create a Prometric ID with the same name as the name on Identification Document. Your name cannot be changed after you have made a reservation. If the name on Identification Document does not match the name on your Prometric ID, you will not be able to take the test on the day of the test.
  • If you book an exam via a Vietnamese sending organization, please register the email address specified by the sending organization when creating your Prometric ID.

Scheduling

  • Reservations and changes can be made from 59 days before the test date until 23:59 (Japan time) three business days before the test date at the earliest. If the test date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or Japanese holiday, you can apply until 23:59 (Japan time) four business days before the test date.
  • Business days are days excluding Saturdays, Sundays, Japanese holidays, and New Year's holidays.
  • The dates vary depending on Test Center. Please note that Test Center may not hold exams depending on the date and time.
  • Seating is limited. Please complete Scheduling as soon as possible.
  • The name, date of birth, nationality, and gender registered at the time of reservation cannot be changed. Please make sure to register without any mistakes.
  • If you are reserving an exam via a sending organization in Vietnam, if you have registered an email address for your Prometric ID other than the one provided by the sending organization, please change it to the one provided by the sending organization before reserving the exam.

Scheduling change

  • Cancellation is not possible. Even if there is an error in the reservation details, corrections or cancellations cannot be made after the reservation is completed.
  • No changes can be made after the reservation deadline has passed.
  • Scheduling cannot be changed unless there are vacant seats.
  • Regardless of Presence or Absence On the test day Test Fee and Voucher will not be refunded, nor will Voucher be reissued.

On the day of exam date

  • Entrance to Test Center will begin 30 minutes before the start of the test.
  • Please arrive at Test Center 15 minutes before the start of the test. If you are late, you will not be able to take the test.
  • You must present a valid Identification Document on the exam date. If you cannot present it, you will not be able to take the test.
  • Even if you are unable to take the test due to being late or Any lack of or mistake in your identification document(s), Test Fee will not be refunded.
  • The following types of clothing are prohibited at Ateneo University in the Philippines.
    Dirty clothes, shorts and shirts for room use, shorts and shirts for sports such as gym and cycling, sleeveless clothes (for men), clothes with deep necklines, clothes with wide openings in the back, clothes without shoulder straps, clothes that show your navel, extreme clothes. short skirts or dresses, extremely low-rise jeans, and slippers.

Identification Document

Identification Document must meet all of the following conditions:

  • The "name on Identification Document" must be the same as the "name registered in Prometric ID."
  • Must be an original.
  • Copying is invalid.
  • It cannot be presented on a smartphone screen or other electronic media.
  • The photo of Identification Document must be clear and can be verified as the person who came to the test site on On the test day.
  • Must be within the expiry date and include a photo.

Test Scheduling

ID creation

  • If you do not have a Prometric ID, please create one first.
  • Please carefully read the "Notes on Creating Prometric ID" and register your name correctly.
  • Your name cannot be changed after your reservation is completed. If the name on your Identification Document Prometric ID, you will not be able to take the test on the day of the test.
  • If you book an exam via a Vietnamese sending organization, please register the email address specified by the sending organization when creating your Prometric ID.

Login/Reservation/Change

  • Cancellation is not possible. Even if there is an error in the reservation details, corrections or cancellations cannot be made after the reservation is completed.
  • The name, date of birth, nationality, and gender registered at the time of reservation cannot be changed. Please make sure to register without any mistakes.
  • Reservations and changes can be made until 23:59 (Japan time) three business days before the test date. If the test date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or Japanese holiday, the test date is 4 business days in advance.
  • Business days are days excluding Saturdays, Sundays, Japanese holidays, and New Year's holidays.
  • Please manage your Prometric ID, password, and registered email address yourself, and be careful not to disclose them to a third party.

Group Registration

Group Registration are possible only if 5 or more people are taking the test on the same day. Group Registration are available in a limited number of countries.

Advance Group Registration

For applicants who have already received a job offer from a company operating in the food service industry in Japan, which is subject to the prerequisite of passing the Specified Skilled Worker Examination for the Food Service Industry, the company that has offered them the job will request OTAFF to begin the procedures required for advance reservations.
This procedure does not apply to those who have not received a job offer from a company operating in the food service industry in Japan.

Test Result

Pass/fail announcement

  • Test Result will be displayed on the computer screen at the end of Test.
  • Please check your result notification within 5 business days after taking the test by logging into My Page. For instructions on how to print your result notification, please see "Steps to Print Google Chrome Result Notification."

Retake Policy

  • You cannot retake Test that you have passed.
  • Those who fail the exam will not be able to take the same Test for 30 days starting from the day after exam date.
