Prometric Japan Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: James Hagenbuscher, hereinafter referred to as Prometric) and Toppan Printing Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director and President: Hideharu Maro, hereinafter referred to as Toppan Printing) are Japanese companies in the education field. The largest exhibition "EDIX (Education Exhibition) Tokyo" (Test Center: Tokyo Big Sight, Date: May 10-12, 2023) and "EDIX Kansai" (Test Center: INTEX Osaka, Date: June 2023) We will be exhibiting jointly from the 14th to the 16th of May.

Starting in May 2022, Toppan Printing and Prometric have been jointly promoting AcaDemiX CBT ^®, a digital transformation support project for all aspects of test administration. At this exhibition, they will exhibit various solutions that support digital transformation of a series of test operations, from creating test questions and illustrations for university entrance exams, to digitizing manuscripts with designs, to administering the exam, scoring and analyzing the exam, and notifying the results. By combining the solutions of both companies, they aim to meet the needs of universities and other test administration organizations in the transition from paper-based exams to CBT (*1) and IBT (*2).

1. CBT/IBT/PBT compatible manuscript data creation support service (Toppan Printing)

We create the manuscript data for test questions required for all Test Format, including CBT, IBT, and PBT.(*3) To help you transition from paper-based tests to CBT/IBT with peace of mind, we provide this service under a strict security management system for manuscript handling and the high quality of proofreading and editing that the Toppan Group has cultivated through its experience in printing test questions for national exams and university entrance exams.

2. Proofreading support app for creating exam questions (Toppan Printing)

It provides precise proofreading support specialized for exam questions. Simply drag and drop the manuscript data of the exam question you want to proofread onto the app icon, and it will check for kanji mistakes, typos, variations in notation, and English spelling mistakes. In addition, since it is a system that works in an offline environment, it does not require an internet connection and can be used in any environment. At this exhibition, you will be able to touch and experience the actual app.

3. Safe, reliable and fair CBT (Prometric)

Prometric delivers more than 2.5 million CBT tests per year, making it the No. 1 company in Japan. In a secure network that connects more than 160 permanent test centers (Test Center) in all 47 prefectures across Japan, we provide safe, reliable, and fair CBT with the help of various experts who manage the quality of test questions and systems, as well as test center supervisors. We also plan to provide a service to conduct CBT at meeting Test Center other than test centers in the future.

4. Finetune Generate (Prometric), which uses AI to help create exam questions

Utilizing a large-scale language model developed exclusively for Test question creation, we instantly generate Test questions from past questions, texts, etc. based on Test specifications of each Test organization. AI learns from the feedback from question writers and can generate more accurate Test questions, making Test question creation process more efficient and more accurate.

About the "AcaDemiX CBT ^®" initiative

This initiative combines the strict security infrastructure and testing know-how and track record of Toppan Printing and Prometric with core technologies such as AI to provide one-stop support for the digital transformation of testing operations in academic fields such as university entrance exams, tailored to the needs of each university. The two companies will work together to provide services such as Toppan Printing creating the manuscript data required for CBT and delivering CBT at Prometric 's Test Center. Going forward, the two companies will expand their collaborative efforts and promote the digital transformation of domestic testing, with a view to jointly developing new services and establishing the infrastructure.
