Scope of this examination
The subject matter of this examination is as follows, and the content complies with the "Safety Instructions for Unmanned Aircraft Flight" published by the Civil Aviation Bureau at Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Eligibility You will not be able to take the test if any of the following apply.
  • Be under 16 years old
  • The applicant must be a person who has been suspended from taking this exam for a certain period of time as a person related to misconduct related to the unmanned aircraft pilot exam pursuant to the provisions of Article 132-49, Paragraph 2 of the Civil Aviation Act, and the suspension period has not yet ended.
Passing criteria
  • First class academic exam
    At the beginning of the exam, the passing standards for the written exam were set based on experts' consideration of the difficulty level of each exam question. The minimum correct answer rate required to pass the exam at the beginning of the exam is approximately 90%. After the questions are revised, we will statistically estimate and set a value that will be equal to this passing standard, so it is expected that the correct answer rate will be about the same, but it may vary slightly.
  • Second class academic exam
    At the beginning of the exam, the passing standards for the written exam were set based on experts' consideration of the difficulty level of each exam question. The minimum correct answer rate required to pass the exam at the beginning of the exam is approximately 80%. After the questions are revised, we will statistically estimate and set a value that will be equal to this passing standard, so it is expected that the correct answer rate will be about the same, but it may vary slightly.

Scheduling

  • To reserve your exam, please complete the following steps in advance:
    Step 1: Submit a competency certification application through the Drone Information Infrastructure System (DIPS) operated and managed by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, have your identity verified, and obtain a competency certification applicant number.
    Step 2: Register an account on the "Unmanned Aircraft Pilot Examination Application System" operated and managed by ClassNK)
  • Reservations can be made from 60 days before the test date to at least 3 business days before the test date. If the test date is a Saturday or Sunday, the deadline is 4 business days before the test date. Please check "Deadlines and Fees by Payment Method" as they vary depending on the payment method.
  • Business days are days excluding Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and year-end and New Year holidays.
  • The test fee for the unmanned aircraft pilot exam is tax-exempt, so there is no consumption tax. When making a reservation, it may be displayed that tax is included, but please note that consumption tax is not included even in that case.
  • You will not be able to make changes to Scheduling unless Test Fee has been paid.

On the day of exam date

  • Reception is open from 30 minutes to 15 minutes before the start time of the exam. If you are late to the reception desk, you will not be able to take the test, so please arrive with plenty of time to spare.
  • You will be required to present the designated Identification Document on the day of the test. If you cannot present it, you will not be able to take the test.

If you have Prometric ID that starts with JP, you can use it for all exams, so please log in and proceed with your reservation.

Login/ Scheduling /Change/Cancellation

Reservations, changes, and cancellations can be made up to three business days before the test date. If the test date is a Saturday or Sunday, the deadline is 4 business days before the test date.

If you require reasonable accommodation to take the test, you must apply in advance before Scheduling Test.

Test Result

Test Result notification

Test Result will be displayed on the screen after the test is completed. We will also provide you with a score report via email.

Pass/fail announcement

If you pass this exam

If you achieve a passing standard score or higher, you will be officially judged to have passed upon notification from the designated testing organization (ClassNK). The notification will be sent to the email address registered in the designated testing institution's application system approximately 8 business days after the date of taking this exam.
After receiving the notification, you can check your written exam pass certificate number by logging into the My Page of the designated testing agency's application system, and then apply for the practical exam at the designated testing agency.
If you have not received your written exam pass certificate number even after 10 business days have passed from the date of the exam, please contact the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Pilot Examination Help Desk.

If you do not pass the main exam

If you do not pass the test, "Fail" will be displayed on the screen and score report at the end of the test.

Retake Policy

There is no limit to the number of times you can take the exam. If you are taking the test again, you will be able to make a reservation from the day after the test date, so please complete your reservation and payment from your Prometric My Page and take the test.
